One crime, multiple perspectives. True Crime Scene reveals the facts behind infamous cases
- Gripping crime series comes to Discovery Channel October 21 -
September 21, 2005 : Who did it? True Crime Scene answers the all-important question when it launches on Discovery Channel Canada, Friday, October 21 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. This new forensic science series goes beyond the case files and fingerprints to examine murder cases with unexpected twists. To truly understand the crime, the murders are examined from various perspectives to uncover the truth.
True Crime Scene combines the suspense of whodunit with the visceral punch of fly-on-the-wall realism. Each episode begins with a murder scene, offers an examination of clues, interviews with witnesses and – based on theories put forward during the real investigation – dramatic re-enactments of how the crime may have unfolded. The final twist sees the murder recreated as it really happened.
The series kicks off on Oct. 21 with True Crime Scene – “Fugitive Justice.” This episode follows respected neurosurgeon Sam Sheppard as he is found guilty of brutally killing his wife, despite his pleas of innocence. His story captured the American public and becomes the basis for the hugely popular television series and feature film, The Fugitive. Years later, after a lengthy investigation of the case, Sheppard is freed but not fully exonerated.
Other episodes this season include:
True Crime Scene – “Dead in the Water”
Fri., Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT
When a corpse is hauled out of the English Channel, there is little information to go on. Police don’t know whether this is a murder, a suicide, or just a tragic accident – they don’t even know who their victim is. Tiny clues and dogged detective work finally identify the body. But the trouble is, the “corpse” is still very much alive, doing business and raising a family. Forensic evidence unlocks a tale of identity fraud, greed, incest and murder.
True Crime Scene – “Killer Commando”
Fri., Nov. 4 at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT
Between 1990 and 1998, a triangle in northeastern France becomes an unlikely field of prey for a serial killer. More than six soldiers are murdered, all with the same MO. Mounting forensic evidence points a finger at Pierre Chanal, but the military refuses to investigate – Chanal is one of the 4th Dragoon Regiment’s most distinguished officers. Who will win the day – science or a man’s reputation?
