BEEFING UP THE TEAM

July 2008

London-based international television distribution company Cineflix International has made two major new appointments.

The first is rights manager Claire Lowe who joins from National Geographic Television International, where she was business affairs manager. Before that she was involved in launching and acquiring programming for RETV.

Previous to that Claire had been with Discovery Networks Europe where she helped launch Animal Planet and worked across all channels negotiating all deals from acquisitions, co-productions and commissions. Before joining Discovery she was with the Children’s Channel.

Claire works closely with Cineflix International’s sales team, legal team and Dublin office on granting rights, closing agreements promptly, reviewing, updating and implementing standard contracts, and protecting rights strategies.

“Working as closely as I do with the great teams in both our London and Dublin offices is quickly proving to be one of the more rewarding highlights of my career so far,” she says.

The second appointment is Lucinda Garner as Sales Manager for USA and English-speaking Canada. Based in Toronto, she is responsible for sales of completed programmes to clients in the US and English-speaking Canada across all media.

Lucinda was previously with the BBC for 12 years in a number of roles, most recently within the BBC’s Commercial Agency. There, she negotiated and managed the distribution, DVD and publishing deals on titles as diverse as Louis Theroux, Top Gear, Panorama and Horizon.

While at the BBC she was also responsible for securing co-production financing of progammes which saw her agreeing deals with partners such as Discovery Channel, HBO, PBS, ZDF and France Television. Lucinda also held a number of sales positions within BBC Worldwide, both in London and Sydney, and most recently as director of sales for BBC Worldwide Canada.

Paul Heaney, MD of Cineflix International said of the new additions to his team: ‘CID is growing up fast, Claire and Lucinda’s appointments demonstrate that. They will both make a really positive impact on us as a team as they can both draw on a huge amount of very relevant experience’
