SCORE IN GERMANY

September 2008

London-based international television distribution company Cineflix International Ltd is delighted to announce it has nailed down a batch of key deals with three of the biggest terrestrial broadcasters in Germany.

In the first, Germany’s number 1 commercial broadcaster RTL has bought series 2 and 3 of Cineflix’s in house production Mayday, the first deal the broadcaster has done with Cineflix International.

Agnes Ostrop,Executive Producer at RTL said: “We are very hopeful that Mayday will perform very well for RTL when we air it. We are convinced of the high production values of this show.”

Currently in its fifth series and ongoing, Mayday(aka _Aircrash Investigation) looks into both high-profile and little-known air disasters. Mayday has proved a phenomenal success for Cineflix International; it is National Geographic Channel International’s biggest rated series ever and has been licensed for a total of over 40 separate territories worldwide across the last four series plus National Geographic Channels International’s footprint of 164 countries.

Then NDR Germany has gone for Trapped, a 6 × 60 series that in every episode tells the dramatic story of people who are trapped, and the epic rescue that then unfolds. The show reveals the fascinating details of each victim’s rescue focusing on examples of creative problem solving, the ingenious application of basic scientific principles, hi-tech engineering and, of course, the bravery, sacrifice and heroism of the rescuers .

Finally, Prosieben’s Kabel 1 has gone for season 3 of Huge Moves, the Cineflix co production with Windfall Films in the UK. In this dramatic 6 × 60 series, we follow the adventures of huge movers across land, sea and through the air, as they transport monstrous structures that were never meant to leave their foundations. From a colossal cathedral and a giant locomotive, to a humongous homestead and even an entire town, nothing is off limits.

Paul Heaney, MD of Cineflix International said of this latest achievement: “We all know that shows only get sold into Germany if they’re of the highest quality, and if they fit the bill exactly. We have many good relationships across Germany not just with the broadcasters above and we intend to build many more partnerships in the near future. Get in!”
