250 NEW HOURS

Cineflix International has announced the acquisition of four new third-party programmes, adding to a slate of over 200 hours of factual entertainment, specialist factual and observational documentary programming.

First off comes a brand new deal brokered by CID Head of Acquisitions Diane Rankin, as a result of CID’s ongoing relationship with Australia’s Seven Network, Air Ways is Seven’s new 8 × 30 fly-on-the-wall comedic factual program following the ups and downs of travel on Australia’s budget airline Tiger Airways. In the series, we witness all the stress and joy of travel as staff and passengers deal with everything from misplaced luggage, delayed flights, marriage proposals and even a wedding during a typical day in the airport and in the skies.

Also from Seven is a one hour Zoo Tales special: The Birth of an Elephant, capturing never before seen footage of a live elephant birth in the Sydney Zoo.

Then from UK producer Glasshead Productions, Cineflix International has acquired worldwide rights for My Monkey Baby, a one hour programme that aired on Channel 4 earlier this year.

The show, which has already sold to TLC in the US, looks at what motivates a couple to raise a monkey and take on a 40-year commitment to an eternal toddler. To have a child that never grows up sounds like a nightmare for many, but to these parents it can seem like a dream come true.

Also from Glasshead is Psychic Academy a 6 × 60 series currently airing on Bio UK. The show sees one of the UK’s best-loved psychics, Tony Stockwell, on a six-week nationwide search to find an apprentice. He’s hoping a crash course in navigating the paranormal will transform 6 candidates into bona fide psychics. The finished series and the format are available.

Highlights from the Cineflix Productions slate include Conviction Kitchen, Manson and Human Prey.
