Life's Birth Stories returns

Season 3 of popular Cineflix show begins October 14

September 23, 2002: Life’s Birth Stories returns for its third season with 26 compelling new episodes, starting Monday, October 14 at 10:30 p.m. The verité-style Cineflix series chronicles the experience of pregnancy for a wide range of very different women. Life’s Birth Stories follows each woman through the weeks leading up to the birth and captures all the intensity and emotion of the birth itself.

“Birth Stories offers unscripted glimpses into a profound, pivotal moment in people’s lives,” says series producer Gail Gallant. “It’s a show about courage, fear, vulnerability, pain, hope and strength of character.”

Life’s Birth Stories interweaves the diverse stories of young and not-so-young couples, new immigrants, determined teens and other mothers-to-be over the course of several episodes, offering an intimate look at how having a child changes lives.

Shea is a television publicist with a photogenic belly. Every stage of her first pregnancy is being documented by a stills photographer – much to her grandmother’s dismay.

Lisa is expecting her first child with her partner Gerry. He’s an ex-junkie and an ex-con who’s done his time and lost all contact with two young daughters. Now he’s turning over a new leaf with Lisa.

Melissa survived a severe car accident and now lives with a brain injury that slows down her thought process. Pregnant with her second child, Melissa and her husband Sean are determined to cope.

Destinia is a devout Muslim who recently immigrated to Canada from Indonesia and has a number of questions about giving birth in Canada.

Crystal is a former alcoholic who, at her lowest, slept on park benches. She says this baby changed her life and now she wants to change others’ lives as a motivational speaker.

Bethany is 18 and the father of her child just left her. Now she’s back at home with her parents, ranting and worrying about the future.

Vanessa is graduating from Chiropractic College, getting married and planning to have a home birth all in the same month. When the baby turns out to be in a breech position, it puts a crimp in her plans.

Kerri has a career in musical theatre and keeps up with tap classes and auditions, even at 8 months pregnant.

The series producer and executive producer of Life’s Birth Stories is Gail Gallant. Life’s Birth Stories is produced by Cineflix in association with Life Network; The Canadian Television Fund-License Fee Program; and with the financial assistance of the Canadian Audio-Visual Certification Office; la Société des entreprises culturelles and the Ontario Media Development Corporation.
