Life's Birth Stories - Second season of popular Cineflix series comes to LIFE October 1, 2001
Toronto, September 4, 2001: This fall Life’s Birth Stories features a steel-worker from Hamilton; a Harley Davidson biker chick; a graphic designer having a baby with sperm and support from her gay friend; a young working mother of two with a third on the way; a London, Ontario radio host; and a Wiccan artist, just to name a few. They’re all pregnant and their life challenges are all different. An intimate and revealing look at pregnancy, birth and the human condition, Life’s Birth Stories returns for its second season with 26 new half-hour episodes, starting Monday, October 1 at 10:30 pm.
“The variety of women makes each story different,”says series producer Leslie Fruman. “The strength of Birth Stories comes from the in-depth portrait of each person in her own particular, complex circumstances, told over the course of several episodes. We’re exploring how pregnancy can heighten all the regular challenges and complications of life”.
The vérité-style series developed a loyal and enthusiastic following during its first season of 12 half-hour episodes on Life. It struck a chord with viewers who found the show compelling – and often addictive – viewing.
Jocelyn is divorced, co-owner of a broadcast design company and is having her second child thanks to the ‘genetic material’ provided by a gay friend. While his family is excited to get a grandchild, hers is mortified by this arrangement. Carol is a steel worker in Hamilton who met and fell in love with a Cuban when she went on vacation last year. She returned to Cuba to get married, got pregnant on her wedding night and is now wading through the bureaucracy to get her husband here in time for the birth. Janice, an accountant at Harley Davidson, and her tool and die maker husband, Tony, are making big changes to their biker lives as her due date draws near. Marianne, a popular radio host in London, Ontario, and her husband Kelly are moving into their first house and having their first baby all at the same time. Felicia, a young mother of two with a third on the way, is reevaluating her problematic relationship with Dwaine.
